About Me

My undergraduate degree is from OSU, in the College of Human Ecology.  My OSU graduate studies were in Child Development, MR/DD.   This set the stage for my interest in and belief that childhood development has a direct impact on our adult thinking, behavior, and emotions. We can learn so much about ourselves today from that child we once were.  Often, these discoveries help us understand ourselves more, and help us make sense of our lives. Understanding the years when our personality was formed, (ages 4-10),  provides us vital information, necessary in the transition from inner-conflict to inner-peace.

My 1995 master's degree is from the University of Dayton in Counseling Education. This degree focused on counseling and mental health, which includes addictions.  A twenty-year career in an agency treating substance dependent individuals with mental health problems, has allowed me to work with most every type of dual diagnosis in adults.  In this agency, I experienced both the role of Therapist and of Clinical Supervisor in an adult residential unit for both men and women working to change their lives.

I am an LPCC (Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor) and an LICDC (Licensed
Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor) in Ohio.  I am also certified in Cognitive Therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing).

When I transferred from my Therapy position at the agency to become Clinical Supervisor, I missed my therapy role tremendously.  So, I developed my private practice, Gentle Steps Counseling.  This practice is my passion.  It allows me to work with others who have a desire to find themselves, and become more comfortable in their lives. I hope you will discover that you are exactly where you need to be at this moment, and with help, you can make your journey easier, find peace, fulfillment and love.

I hope that you will contact me so that you can begin the next stage of your journey.  Please call or email me for an appointment.
